Self-determination, agency, solidarity, justice, fairness, families and communities are the words that the participants of the seminar indicated as crucial for the continuation of activities in the field of women’s human rights. The TPO Foundation, with the support of the Ecumenical Initiative of Women from Omiš, organized a seminar on Religion, Feminism and Freedom for female theologians and activists from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Zambia, South Africa and Kenya. The seminar was held in Kreševo from June 17-21, 2024. year.
At the seminar, representatives of non-governmental organizations and the academic community shared their experiences in protecting women’s human rights from a religious perspective.
Tina Kleiber from Bread for the World, Germany led this seminar together with v.prof.dr. Zilkom Spahić Šiljak. Director of the Ecumenical Women’s Initiative, Carolyn Boyd Tomasović, spoke about the importance of feminist approaches in financing women’s non-governmental organizations. Selina Palm from the Republic of South Africa shared her experiences of working in the academic community and the church and emphasized the importance of a dialogical approach in protecting women’s rights and the rights of minorities. Tabitha Moyo from Zambia shared the findings of her research on masculinities that are cultivated in her country and the role of mothers in socialization processes. Nontanto Hadebe, Funlola Oloyede and Ulfat Hussein spoke about the importance of networking in African countries in order to help the most distressed and especially migrants and refugees.
