ONLINE FER SCHOOL: FEMINISM AND RELIGION FOR EVERYONE – INVITATION

Do we have the courage to question our own beliefs, worldviews, and practices? Do we have the strength to challenge the structural violence perpetrated by patriarchal institutions, both secular and religious? Are we ready to listen to different perspectives and respect opposing opinions, even if we don’t agree with them? Are we prepared to honor human freedom and an individual’s right to believe or not believe, to ask questions, to doubt, and to seek answers? Is it possible to be both a feminist and a believer?

If you answered “yes” to these questions, we encourage you to apply for the first online FER School: Feminism and Religion. The FER School is designed for anyone interested in exploring feminism, stereotypes, gender-based violence, peacemaking, and other critical topics related to gender equality.

The goal of the FER School is to provide an understanding through online lectures and discussions about how gender stereotypes impact the lives of women and men, why these stereotypes are still justified by religion and some scientific research, and to propose egalitarian models of gender relations.

The FER School is FREE, and this semester’s courses are open to everyone, regardless of educational background. No prior preparation or written assignments are required, only regular and active participation.

For the winter semester of the FER School (October 16 – December 22, 2023), we are offering five courses on the following dates:

  • Feminism – “Absolute Swear” (West), Monday 18:00-19:30
  • Eastern Faces of Feminism, Tuesday 18:00-19:30
  • “And You, Good Sister, Be Quiet: Protecting the Face of the Family”, Wednesday 18:00-19:30
  • Is a Woman Human? Thursday 18:00-19:30
  • Is Peace a “Woman’s Thing”? Friday 18:00-19:30

Online lectures and discussions will be conducted via the ZOOM platform. Attendance and participation in lectures and discussions are mandatory, with up to three absences permitted with prior notice. Participants who attend regularly will receive a certificate upon completion of the course.

Participants may enroll in all courses or choose specific ones according to their interests.

To apply, please submit a motivation letter including basic information about yourself and the courses you wish to attend. Send your application by October 10, 2023, to: ferskola.tpo@gmail.com. You will receive a response by October 13, 2023.
